BTS's Map of the Soul: 7 The Journey debuts at No. 1 on the Global Album Chart with equivalent sales of 588.000 and is this week's best-selling album by far!

'Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey’, the 4th Japanese studio album, and 8th overall by K-Pop Kings BTS, released on July 14, debuts at #1 on the Global Album Chart with equivalent sales of 588.000, and is this week’s best-selling album! The album debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and landed at No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Albums Chart in Japan with 447,869 units sold in its 1st 24 hours, setting a new record for the highest first day sales by both a foreign and Korean artist in Japan, and became the highest selling album out of all albums released in the country for 2020 so far, surpassing sales of 500,000 copies on its 2nd day. The album debuted at #1 on the Oricon weekly chart after selling over 564,00 units, breaking the record for highest first week sales of 2020 and becoming the most sold album in Japan of the year! Additionally, BTS set a new all-time record for the best-selling album in its first week of tracking by a male foreign artist, breaking a 10-year record previously held by DBSK's greatest hits album, Best Selection 2010, which sold 413.000 in week 1! In the US ‘Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey ‘ debuted at #115 on the Billboard 200 chart issue released on July 21 for the week of July 25 with only two days of tracking and no physical release, giving the band their 12th entry on the chart and extending their record for the most entries amongst all K-pop acts. It also debuted at #2 on the Billboard World Albums chart. In the UK, the album debuted at #56 on the Official Albums Chart with only two days of tracking and no physical sales included, breaking the record for the highest charting Japanese album by a Korean act ever in the UK! The album also debuted at #7 in New Zealand, #9 in Australia, #51 in Switzerland, #58 in Scotland, #90 in Canada, #137 in Belgium (Wallonia) and #164 in Belgium (Flanders)! ‘BTS’s Map of the Soul: 7 – The Journey’ is the band's 1st full length Japanese album in 2 years since 2018's 'Face Yourself'. The album contains Japanese versions of songs from BTS's 'Love Yourself: Answer' (2018), 'Map of the Soul: Persona' (2019) and 'Map of the Soul: 7' (2020) albums, as well as four new, original Japanese tracks: "Intro: Calling", lead single "Stay Gold", "Your Eyes Tell", and "Outro: The Journey". Previously released 2019 single "Lights" was also included.

 

The hugely popular Duo, Chanyeol and Sehun from the legendary Group EXO debuts at #2 with their new album ‘I Billion views’ released via their sub group EXO-SC! The album sold a massive 416.000 units in its 1st week globally, after debuting at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and landing at #1 on the Gaon Album chart in Korea!

 

Last week’s chart topper, the late Juice WRLD's ‘Legends never Die’ slips 1-3 after selling another 229.000 and 823.000 so far while former No. 1, the late Pop Smoke's posthumous album ‘Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon’ slips 2-4 this week after selling another 199.000 units and 716.000 so far!

 

BLACKPINK’s Special Edition of ‘How You Like That’ debuts at #5 globally after selling 162.000 units in its 1st week, while The Chicks' ‘Gaslighter’ debuts at #6 with first week sales of 116.000. 

 

The Original Broadway Cast ‘Hamilton: An American Musical’ slips 4-7 after selling another 93.000 units and 2.318.000 since its release 7 weeks ago while Japanese Rock Band MAN WITH A MISSION's new ‘Man With A Best Mission’ debuts at #8 after selling 77.000 units in its 1st week. 

 
 

New entry at #9 for Korean Girl Group G-Friend's new album ‘Song Of The Sirens’ after selling 67.000 units while Harry Styles' ‘Fine Line’ slips 6-10 this week after selling another 65.000 units and 2.621.000 so far!
