Japanese Idol Group King & Prince's 2nd Album 'L&' Tops The United World Album Chart selling 555.000 Equivalent Units In Its 1st Week!

Japanese Idol Group King & Prince has done it again, rocking to the top of the United World Album Chart with their brand new effort 'L&' after selling 555,000 equivalent units in its 1st week according to Oricon. 'L&' follows their self-titled debut Album which topped the United World Album Chart the 27th week of 2019 with equivalent sales of 468,000! King & Prince were signed as a 6 member Group in 2018 to Johnny & Associates' new record Company with Universal Music (Johnny's Universe) and were the first artists to sign under the label. Their debut single "Cinderella Girl" was released on 23 May 2018 and sold over 577,000 copies in its first week, the first debut single in over 12 years to exceed 1st week sales of 500,000 copies, becoming the most commercially successful debut of the decade! By late June, King & Prince had become the highest earning new artists, and in September 2018, "Cinderella Girl" was certified 3x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for shipments of 750,000 units! King & Prince embarked on a nationwide arena tour titled 'King & Prince First Concert Tour 2018' attracting 260,000 fans. On October 10, 2018, King & Prince released their second single titled "Memorial" which sold over 400,000 copies in its first week, topping the Oricon Singles Chart. It was soon certified 2x Platinum by the RIAJ for shipments of 500,000 units. King & Prince have sold over 3 million records so far in Japan!

 

Back to this week's top selling Albums with Super Junior's brand new Album 'Bad Blood' landing at #2 on the United World Album Chart, selling 157.000 equivalent units in its 1st week!

 

Former #1, Pop Smoke's posthumous album, 'Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon', holds at #3 after selling another 121.000 equivalent sales this week and 1.674.000 so far, while US rapper BIG SEAN lands at #4 with his brand new 'Detroit 2' after selling 116.000 equivalent units in its 1st week!

 

Former chart topper, Juice WRLD's posthumous album 'Legends Never Die', holds at #5 after selling another 91.000 equivalent units and 1.707.000 so far while last week's chart topper, Taylor Swift’s  'Folklore', drops 1-7, after selling another 89.000 equivalent units in its 7th week on the chart, surpassing 2.013.000 official sales units around the world according to Mediatraffic and nearly 1 Million unofficial in China! 

 

New entry at #8 for 6ix9ine’s 'TattleTales' with 1st week sales of 71.000 while the hugely talented Japanese Superstar Kenshi Yonezu dips 4-8 with his masterpiece 'Stray Sheep' after selling another 70.000 equivalent units and 1.668.000 so far, topping the World Album Chart and the Oricon Album chart for 3 whole weeks!

 

Harry Styles’ ‘Fine Line' dips 8-9 after selling another 60.000 equivalent units and 3.086.000 in total, while Metallica & San Francisco Symphony's 'S&M2' drops 2-10 after selling another 58.000 equivalent units in its 2nd week and 202.000 so far! 

 

So far in 2020, the Albums which have surpassed 2 Million official sales units according to Media Traffic are Taylor Swift's 'Folklore', Harry styles' 'Fine Line' which was released in December 2019, and has sold 2,29 million units in 2020, 'Hollywood's Bleeding’ by Post Malone which sold 2,36 million this year, 'When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ by Billie Eilish

 which sold 2,47 million just in 2020, 'After Hours by The Weeknd which sold 2,5 million and 'Map Of The Soul: 7 by BTS which has sold 6,16 million so far!
