The soundtrack to 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' debuted 2 weeks ago on the Global Chart at no.2 with 319.000 copies sold. Drake's album 'If You're Reading This, It's Too Late' was no,1 with 559.000 sales. 'Fifty Shades' remained at no.2 in its second week with another 242.000 Albums sold. That week Imagine Dragon's new album 'Smoke+Mirrors' debuted at no.1 with sales of 269.000.  In its 3rd week on the charts, 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' finally reaches no.1 after selling 175,000 copies.

 

This week, 18 albums debut on the World's Top 20 best-selling Albums chart. Kid Rock debuts at no.2 with his tenth studio album 'First Kiss' and world sales of 158.000 copies, mostly in the USA. Kid Rock's last album 'Devil Without A Cause' released in 1998, sold over 12 million copies. His biggest single smash was much later in the year of 2008, when 'All Summer Long' went to the top of the charts globally. That year he received the  'World's Best-selling Pop Rock Male Artist" Award in Monte-Carlo at the 2008 World Music Awards.


Rapper Big Sean debuts at no.3 with his third album 'Dark Sky Paradise' and sales of 157.000 this first week. His former album 'Hall Of Fame' debuted at no.6 with 76.000 units in 2013.


Some additional sales stats: 'Cheek To Cheek' by Tony Bennett & Lady GaGa sold 15.000 copies last week and reaches a total of 964.000 so far. 'Uptown Special' by Mark Ronson sold 18.000 units last week, with a global tally of 250.000 copies so far. Beyoncé's self-titled album sold 8.000 units last week and has a total of 3.776.000 copies.  'AM' by the Arctic Monkeys sold 2.374.000 copies so far, '1989' by Taylor Swift is at 6.506.000, and '21' by Adele is at 26.758.000.

'Uptown Funk!' by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars holds tight at the summit for an eleventh consecutive week. Ellie Goulding's 'Love Me Like You Do' jumps from no.4 to no.2.

 

 'Kareinaru Gyakuzoku', the new single release of the Japanese idol group Smap is this week's highest debut.The Song is no.1 in Japan and at no.18 on the world chart. Also new on the chart is 'Hold Back The River', the first big success for the 24 year-old British singer/songwriter and guitarist, James Bay. The song debuts at no.31. Former 'American Idol' winner Kelly Clarkson, who had her biggest hits nearly 10 years ago with 'Since U Been Gone' and 'Because Of You', is back this week at no.38 with 'Heartbeat Song'.

 

Outside the Top 40 waiting among others is Norwegian Artist Kygo feat. Conrad's 'Firestone' at no.42, Nicki Minaj feat. Drake & Lil Wayne's 'Truffle Butter' at no.43, and Taylor Swift's 'Wonderland' at no.48.

'Smoke+Mirrors', the second album of Las Vegas based rock band Imagine Dragons, debuts at no.1 in the World's Best-selling Albums Chart with sales of 269.000. 172.000 of those were sold in the US, 25.700 in the UK, 23.000 in Canada, 15.000 in Germany, 6.000 in France and  5.000 in Australia. Imagine Dragon's debut album 'Night Visions' is back in the Top 40 at no.34 this week with sales of 17.000. Driven by hit singles 'Radioactive', 'It's Time', and 'Demons' the first Album has sold a massive 4.317.000 copies so far!

 

Drake's 'If You're Reading This, It's Too Late' slips from the top spot to no.3, down 69% with 174.000 copies sold, and the soundtrack to the blockbuster 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' stays at no.2 for a second week with 242.000 copies sold.

 

Also new inside the Top 10 this week is German gangsta-rapper Bushido with his new release 'Carlo Cokxxx Nutten 3' at no.7 after selling 81.000 copies.Generations, a part of the J-pop collective Exile Tribe, debut at no.8 this week with their second Album 'Generation Ex' after selling 64.000 copies.


'Motion' by Calvin Harris sold 12.000 copies last week and reaches a total of 586.000 so far. 'No Fixed Address' by Nickelback sold also 12.000 units last week, 672.000 so far. 'Plus' by Ed Sheeran sold 13.000 units last week and has a total of 3.980.000 copies so far, his follow-up 'X' sold 4.884.000 copies so far, 'Ultraviolence' by Lana Del Rey 1.283.000, and 'Xscape' by Michael Jackson 1.555.000.

It's the 10th straight week atop the Global Track Chart for 'Uptown Funk!' by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars. The song shows a 7% points decline to 565,000 and with a total of 6,349,000 it breaks through the 6 million border in a record pace of only 13 weeks. So it debuts at no.325 on the ALL TIME CHART this week and it's the 373rd hit with more than 6 million points in history. Driven by the Grammy effect many older songs showing point increases and we have the very rare incident, that all Top 5 ranks having more than 300,000 points! 'Thinking Out Loud' by Ed Sheeran holds tight at no.2 (up 11% to 458,000), 'FourFiveSeconds' by Rihanna / Kanye West / Paul McCartney climbs at no.3 (up 36% to 383,000), 'Love Me Like You Do' by Ellie Goulding hangs at no.4 (up 21% to 378,000), and 'Take Me To Church' by Hozier slides at no.5 (up 7% to 369.000). Also last year's two big hits are again on the way up on the tally: Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' turns back at no.32 with 78.000 points and ranks now a 55th week on the Top 40. John Legend's 'All Of Me' placed even a 60th week on the list and climbs at no.28 with 88.000 points. Since the start of the Mediatraffic Top 40 in January 1999 only four smashes were longer on the hitlist, Jason Mraz' 'I'm Yours' 63 weeks, Adele's 'Someone Like You' and Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling' each with 64 weeks, and Adele's 'Rolling In The Deep' 65 weeks. American hip-hop star Drake shoots atop the Global Album Chart this week with his new effort 'If You're Reading This, It's Too Late'. At the moment the set is only available as digital download format and in its first days since the release on Thursday, February 12, we counted massive 559,000 sales. Sorted by countries it sold 494,700 copies in the USA, 37,000 in Canada and 21,500 in United Kingdom. Drake's former album 'Nothing Was The Same' started with 794,000 copies in the week 41, 2013. Another important debut this week is the soundtrack to the blockbuster 'Fifty Shades Of Grey'. The album rockets easily to the vice-position with healthy 319,000 units, 210,400 of it in the USA, 41,100 in United Kingdom, 18,000 in Canada, 16,800 in France, around 10,000 in Germany, and 7,400 in Australia. The Grammy Award show has big consequences on the hitlists. The albums of many artists who performed at the gala, showing enormous sales increases. Four-time Grammy winner Sam Smith climbs from no.5 to no.3 with his effort 'In The Lonely Hour', driven by a massive 107% sales boost to 211,000 copies. Album Of The Year winner Beck turns back at no.9 with 'Morning Phase' and 75,000 sales, a giant 400% growth compared to the previous week. The album was released exactly one year ago on February 21, 2014 (USA) and arrived at no.3 on the Global Album Chart in the week 11 with 143,000 sales. The last time the album ranked in the Top 40 was in the week 18, 2014 and it sold a total of 655,000 copies to date. Very unusal to see that last week's no.1 album, Taylor Swift's '1989', shows a 20% sales boost to 149,000 copies, despite a big drop to no.6 on the tally. Also Ed Sheeran's 'X' slips down on the list at no.5, but wins significant 48% in sales to 162,000 units. Some additional sales stats: Beyoncé's self-titled album sold 14,000 copies last week and reaches a total of 3,758,000 so far, 'Love In The Future' by John Legend sold 11,000 units last week, 1,364,000 so far, 'Night Visions' by Imagine Dragons sold 15,000 units last week and has a total of 4,300,000 copies so far, 'In The Lonely Hour' by Sam Smith sold 3,989,000 copies so far, '1989' by Taylor Swift 6,313,000, and the soundtrack of 'Guardians Of The Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol.1' 1,759,000.
