Pharrell Williams saw out 2013 with his third UK number one single of the year, Happy.
 

The 40-year-old previously topped the charts on Daft Punk's Get Lucky and Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines, with writing credits on both.


Happy, a feel-good pop song featured in the hit animation film Despicable Me 2, and comes with a 24 hour-long video.


The chart placing rounds off a successful comeback for Williams, as Blurred Lines and Get Lucky were named the two best-selling singles of 2013 at the beginning of this month.

 

He is expected to release a second solo album early next year - a follow-up to his 2006 debut In My Mind.


World's No.1 Album is "Frozen" for 2nd Week

Frozen”, the Soundtrack to Walt Disney’s Blockbuster Movie is the World’s best-selling Album of the Week! After selling another 151.000 copies, “Frozen” holds on to its top Spot on the World’s best-selling Album’s Chart. The big success of this soundtrack is driven by Idina Menzel’s Song "Let It Go", which climbs from no.14 to no.12 on the World’s best Single’s chart. Another version of that song, performed by Demi Lovato, is at no.40.


Bruno Mars' "Unorthodox Jukebox” makes another big jump from no.6 to no.2, after a huge sales boost and 112.000 copies sold. Since its release in December 2012 "Unorthodox Jukebox” has sold 5,44 million copies. Bruno's first Album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans’” rises from no.36 to no.20, selling another 32.000 copies with a total of 6,33 million so far. The reason for this resurrection is Bruno Mars' big show performance at the Super Bowl (USA) on February 2. Beyoncé's self titled album sits at no.3 with sales of 80.000. The Highest debut of the week is Dutch symphonic rock band Within Temptation. Their sixth album “Hydra" enters the World’s best-selling Album’s Chart at no.4 with 70.000 copies sold. “Hydra" has it biggest first week sales in the USA (15.100 copies), the Netherlands (around 13.000), Germany (around 10.000), United Kingdom (8.200) and France (4.500). The Second highest debut of the week is 'Love, Marriage & Divorce', a collaboration by Toni Braxton and Babyface. The album starts at no.6 with 69.000 sales. American rock band Broken Bells, consisting of Danger Mouse and James Mercer, open close behind at no.7 with their second studio album "After The Disco" and 66.000 sales. The last Top 10 debut this week comes from German Rapper Marteria and "Zurück In Die Zukunft II" debuts at no.8 with 63.000 copies. Bruce Springsteen is at no.9 with “High Hopes’ and sales of 59.000 and closing this week’s Top Ten is Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories”.

 

"The Truth About Love" by Pink sold 16.000 copies last week, 5,44 million in total, Avril's self-titled album sold 9.000 copies last week, 511.000 in total, "Britney Jean" by Britney Spears sold 8.000 copies last week, 500.000 so far, "The 20/20 Experience" by Justin Timberlake 3,88 million so far, “Plus" by Ed Sheeran 3,61 million, Paramore's self-titled album 720.000, "A Year Without Rain" by Selena Gomez 1,05 million, "Yours Truly' by Ariana Grande 464.000, “ eflektor" by Arcade Fire 836.000, “ napologetic" by Rihanna 3,46 million and "Racine Carrée" by Stromae 1,73 million.

 


World Cup Song is Out!

Claudia Leitte and Jennifer Lopez will perform with Pitbull the official song for the 2014 World Cup "We Are One". The song, written and co-produced by Pitbull is out today!

Leitte says she is looking forward to "dancing samba with Pitbull and Jennifer Lopez in Brazil."

Shakira wrote "Waka Waka" for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Mariah Carey's new studio new single "You're Mine (Eternal)" is out today, and the Album "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" will be released May 6.

The Singer unveiled the news in a two-minute teaser video with footage showing her various career achievements along with some shots of Billboard's Hot 100 chart, which she has topped 18 times. That's the most No. 1 Hot 100 singles among solo artists, and is second to only the Beatles, who had 20 No. 1 singles.

The new album was originally due out last July, but got delayed after Mariah injured her shoulder while filming a music video. The album contains "#Beautiful", her Top 20 hit with Miguel, as well as "The Art of Letting Go," which was released in November.

The singer's performance at BET Honors 2014, taped at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., will air on Feb. 24 in the States.

The soundtrack to Walt Disney's "Frozen" is top of the world's best-selling Albums chart selling149.000 copies this week (93.000 in the US and 20,200 in the United Kingdom). In total "Frozen" has sold 1,07 million copies so far.


Lorde's "Pure Heroin" rises from no.5 to no.2 after a 60% sales increase to 106.000 copies thanks to her Sophisticated Performance on the Grammies!

 

Bruno Mars' "Unorthodox Jukebox" rushes up the chart from N°18 to N°6 with sales of 65,000. Also new country singer Kacey Musgraves returns to N°22 with "Same Trailer, Different Park'" (29.000 sales). New entry and highest debut for J-Pop Act 2PM at N°7 with "Genesis of 2PM" and sales of 63.000 according to Oricon. Imagine Dragons "Demons" are at N°8 after shifting another 63.000 albums in their 59th week on the best-selling Albums chart.

 

Metal band Of Mice & Men debut their 3rd Album "Restoring Force" and are at N°9 with 63.000 copies sold.

 

Katy Perry closes this week's Top 10 with "Prism" after selling another 58.000 copies this week.
