Ed Sheeran is the best-selling Male Artist of 2019 according to the IFPI. Ed released his ‘No. 6 Collaborations Project', his 4th studio album, on  July 12, 2019 via Asylum Records and Atlantic Records! The album includes guest appearances by Bruno Mars, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Chance The Rapper, Chris Stapleton, Dave, Eminem, 50 Cent, J Hus, Justin Bieber, Khalid, Skrillex, Stormzy, Travis Scott, Yebba and Young Thug among others. The album was preceded by its lead single “I Don't Care” with Justin Bieber, “Cross Me” ft. Chance The Rapper and PnB Rock, “Beautiful People” ft. Khalid, “Bloc” with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars, “Best Part of Me” ft. Yebba, “Antisocial” with Travis Scott, “South of the  Border” ft Camila Cabello & Cardi B and “Take Me Back To London” ft. Stormzy.  

 

‘No. 6 Collaborations Project’ debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 Album chart with 173,000 album equivalent units including 70,000 pure album sales. It is Sheeran's 3rd US number-one album! In its 2nd week, the album held at #1 on the chart, earning 78,000 album-equivalent units of which 16,000 were in pure album sales. On September 23, 2019, the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of  America (RIAA) for combined sales and album-equivalent units of over 500,000 units! In the UK, the album debuted at  #1 on the Official Albums Chart with 125,000 AEUs, making it the fastest selling album of 2019. In its first week, ‘No. 6 Collaborations Project had 57,000 physical sales, 18,000 downloads and 70.2 million track streams in the UK. The album debuted at No. 1 in 18 other countries, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. It also debuted at No. 2 in Denmark, France, Germany, Italy and Poland.

By the end of 2019, the album had sold 2.692.000 copies worldwide! Ed also continued to sell his hugely successful album ‘Divide’ and all his other albums which were still charting in charts globally. ‘Divide’ alone sold another 1.899.000 units in 2019 despite being released on March 3rd, 2017!

Japanese boy band ARASHI had the biggest global album of 2019, with their compilation 5×20 All the BEST!! 1999-2019 according to IFPI, the organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide! 5x20 All the Best!! 1999–2009 sold 729,000 copies on its first day of release, breaking the record for the highest first-day sales by a male artist in Japan. On its second day, the album sold 267,000 copies, bringing its two-day sales total to 996,000. It sold 103,000 copies on its third day, which brought the album's total sales to 1.099 million, making it the first million-seller of the Reiwa era. According to Billboard Japan, the album sold 740,114 copies from June 24–25, 2019, which set the record for the highest first-week sales in 2019. Billboard Japan reported that it sold 1,037,689 copies from June 24–26, 2019. The album topped the Oricon Monthly Chart for three consecutive months, selling 1,304,251 copies in the album's release and selling over 278,870 copies in its second month of release. In its third month of release, the album sold over 411,854 copies.

On September 10, the album was certified 2× Million by the RIAJ for sales of over 2 million copies. The album was the first album to reach the 2× Million certification in the Reiwa era. The album was also distributed in various countries such as South Korea, where it reached number 15 on the weekly Gaon Album Chart.

According to IFPI, ‘5x20 ‘ was the best-selling album of 2019 worldwide, with 3.3 million copies sold.

“Bad Guy” by Billie Eilish was the biggest global single of 2019! “Bad Guy” was released on March 29, 2019 as the 5th single from Billie Eilish’s 1st album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go”! The song was an instant hit, topping charts in over 15 countries around the world, including the US. "Bad Guy" debuted at No. 7 on the US Billboard Hot 100 on the week ending April 13, 2019, as Eilish's first top ten entry on the chart. The song has been awarded multiple certifications, including an ninefold platinum award from the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) and a sextuple platinum award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). “Bad Guy” was Spotify’s 2nd most streamed song globally last year and Shazam most searched-for track of 2019."Bad Guy" was the best-selling single of 2019 globally with combined sales and track-equivalent streams of 19.5 million units according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI)!

Jason Derulo scores his 1st global number one hit with "Savage Love (Laxed - Siren Beat)" by New Zealand Producer Jawsh 685 who also scores his first No. 1 hit record! Jawsh 685 first released the instrumental version titled "Laxed (Siren Beat) to YouTube in 2019. The original song was a tribute to Jawsh 685's Samoan and Cook Island roots and went viral on Tik Tok in 2020, sparking the "Culture Dance" challenge, in which others would show off their cultural roots while dancing to the song. Following its viral success, "Laxed (Siren Beat)" was officially released to online platforms on 24 April 2020 and Jawsh 685 signed with Columbia Records in May 2020. Following the viral success of "Laxed (Siren Beat)" on TikTok, Jason Derulo posted a video of himself partaking in the "Culture Dance" challenge, which received tens of millions of views. Jawsh 685 was in talks with multiple artists, including Derulo, to remix "Laxed (Siren Beat)". On 11 June 2020, Columbia Records officially released the new Jason Derulo Remix after receiving clearance from Jawsh who is credited as an artist and co-writer, as well as the track's sole producer. The album debuted at #1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and landed at No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Albums Chart in Japan with 447,869 units sold in its 1st 24 hours, setting a new record for the highest first day sales by both a foreign and Korean artist in Japan, and became the highest selling album out of all albums released in the country for 2020 so far, surpassing sales of 500,000 copies on its 2nd day.
