Ed Sheeran's 'X' returns to the top of the World Album Chart for a third time with sales of 119.000 sales. 'X' debuted at No.1 after its release on June 20, 2014 with sales of 549,000. Two weeks later it went back to No.1 after selling 151,000 more copies. Now after 60 weeks on the chart 'X' returns to No.1, having sold 6,593,000 copies, 3,107,000 of which were sold in 2014. 'X' is the second best-selling Album of 2015, just 280,000 units behind Taylor Swift's '1989' chich has sold 3,387,000 units.
Canadian singer Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, rises atop the tally with 'Can't Feel My Face', his first no.1 smash! The song gets 275.000 points this week, an 8% boost compared to the previous week. Shy behind remains OMI's 'Cheerleader' a third week at no.2 with 272.000 points. Last week's chart leader, 'Drag Me Down' by One Direction slides down at no.7 after a massive 65% points decline to 152.000. 'Lean On' by Major Lazer feat. Mø & DJ Snake climbs back at no.3 in its 20th week on the tally with 250.000 points. Highest debut comes from Japanese male idol group Kanjani 8, their 'Maemuki Scream!' shoots at no.4 with 197.000 points. Rounds out the top five is Walk The Moon's 'Shut Up And Dance' with 168.000 points. Outside our weekly Top 40 waiting among other Fetty Wap's 'Again' at no.44, Adam Lambert's 'Ghost Town' at no.49, Fall Out Boy's 'Uma Thurman' at no.51 and Sam Feldt feat. Kimberley Anne's 'Show Me Love' at no.55 for their first appearance on the big list.
After the horrible global album sales last week, there are at least two big sellers this week: rapper and producer legend Dr. Dre is the big winner with his new effort 'Compton', followed by 'Kill The Lights' from American country star Luke Bryan. Both albums sold much more than 300.000 copies. 'Compton' starts with massive 414.000 sales, 276.000 of it in the USA alone, another 45.700 in United Kingdom. Dr. Dre released many albums during the last 25 years, but only three regular studio albums: 'The Chronic' (1992) sold around 7 million copies to date, the second effort '2001' (1999) was the most successful Dr. Dre album so far with more than 10 million sales. 'Compton' is now the third, and according to Dr. Dre, his final album. Country star Luke Bryan bows at the vice-position with his fifth studio effort 'Kill The Lights' and 340.000 sales. His former studio set 'Crash My Party', arrived at no.1 globally in the week 35, 2013 with 557.000 sales and reached a total of 2,7 million to become his best-selling album to date. Last week's chart-topper, 'Super Very Best' by Japanese popular idol group V6, which started with 152.000 sales, throws down at no.42 this week with 15.000 sales, according to Oricon. Rounding out the top five are Ed Sheeran's 'X' at no.4 with 54.000 sales and Taylor Swift's '1989' at no.5 with 43.000 sales. Some additional sales stats: the soundtrack to 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' sold 15.000 copies last week and reaches a total of 1.845.000 so far, 'My Everything' by Ariana Grande sold 7.000 units last week, 1.625.000 so far, 'Smoke+Mirrors' by Imagine Dragons sold 10.000 units last week and has a total of 899.000 copies so far, 'Drones' by Muse sold 793.000 copies so far, 'Chambre' by Louane 498.000, and 'Chaos And The Calm' by James Bay 638.000.
V6, a very popular idol group from Japan, is number one this week with their compilation 'Super Very Best' and 152.490 sales, according to Oricon.
The South Korean boygroup Beast lands one place behind at the vice-position with 'Ordinary' and 61.000 sales, according to Hanteo and Oricon.
Led Zeppelin invades the World’s Best-seliing Albums chart with 3 different Albums: 'Presence' from 1976 shoots at no.3 and 60.000 sales. 'Coda' from 1982 follows at no.4 with 58.000 sales and 'In Through The Out Door' from 1979 reaches no.5 with 57.000 sales.
After three no.1's and four million-seller on the Global Album Chart, it's finally time for One Direction's first number one smash on the Global Track Chart. 'Drag Me Down', the first sign from their upcoming fifth album, shoots straight ahead of the tally with massive 428.000 points. The band's most succesful song so far was 'Story Of My Life', which reached no.5 in January 2014 and got a total of 4.571.000 points. 'Drag Me Down' blocked Felix Jaehn's remix of Omi's 'Cheerleader' another week from the top. The song remains at the vice position with 280.000 points and enters the ALL TIME CHART at no.370 this week with a total of 6.040.000 points. 'Uptown Funk' by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars makes another interesting move on the All Time Chart: the song overtakes Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise' (1995) and rises up in the Top 10 there with a total of massive 12.997.000 points. Next week it'll be overtake Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feeling' (2009) and then 'Uptown Funk' is the second most successful song of the 21st century so far, behind Pharrell Williams' 'Happy' from 2014 with its magnificent 14.844.000 points. Back to the current weekly hitlist: The Weeknd's 'Can't Feel My Face' is still at no.3 with 254.000 points and for the first time in the Top 10 is the 17 year-old American rapper Ricky Lamar Hawk, better known by his stage name Silentó. His 'Watch Me (Whip/NaeNae)' with the remarkable dance video climbs from no.13 to no.9, driven by a 9% points increase to 144.000. Outside our weekly Top 40 waiting among other Nicky Jam feat.
