British heavy metal legend Iron Maiden have the World's best-selling Album this week! Their 16th studio Album 'The Book Of Souls' tops the Global Albums chart after selling 310,000 copies. 74,000 of those were sold in the USA, 60,200 in the UK, more than 50,000 in Germany, 20,700 in France, around 12,000 in Italy, 9,200 in Australia, and 7,900 in Japan. The 310,000 initial sales are more than the former Iron Maiden album sold in its first week, 'The Final Frontier' also debuted at no.1 in 2010 with 249,000 copies. The band's first album, 'Iron Maiden', was released in April 1980, over 35 years ago! Just behind Iron Maiden is another heavy metal band, Five Finger Death Punch from Las Vegas who debut at No.2 with their new album 'Got Your Six' after selling 162,000 records: 114,000 copies were sold in the USA alone.
Last week's chart-topper, The Weeknd's 'Beauty Behind The Madness' slips to No.3, after selling 135,000 copies. Also new in the Top 10 are American rapper Travis Scott with his debut studio album 'Rodeo' at no.4 after selling 87,000 copies; Australian actor and singer Troye Sivan's fourth EP 'Wild' is at no.5 after selling 80,000 copies; German Rapper Sido is at No.8 with his new set 'VI' and sales of 49,000. Back at no.10 is German 'Schlagerstar' Helene Fischer with 'Farbenspiel'. The album was last seen in the World's Top 10 shortly after its release in the week 45, 2013, when it debuted at no.8 with sales of 66,000. Some additional sales stats: 'Smoke+Mirrors'' by Imagine Dragons sold 10,000 copies last week with a total of 940,000 so far. 'Montevallo' by Sam Hunt sold also 13,000 units last week and has a total of 831,000 copies so far, 'V' by Maroon 5 sold 2,134,000 copies so far, 'My Everything' by Ariana Grande 1,649,000, and 'Farbenspiel' by Helene Fischer 2,301,000.
Japanese pop phenomenon AKB 48's 'Halloween Night' is their 21st number one smash on the Global Track Chart. The girlie idol group has now exactly the same number one songs as the Beatles. Only Elvis Presley and Madonna have had more no.1 songs (each with 22 hits). 'Halloween Night' leads nine new-entries this week. Justin Bieber lands the second highest, with his new smash 'What Do You Mean?'. The song debuts at no.2 globally. It's the first time in nearly two years, that we have two new-entries atop the chart. In the week 46, 2013 'Heart Ereki' by AKB 48 was the new no.1 with Eminem's 'The Monster' feat. Rihanna at No.2. Back to this week's hitlist, The Weeknd is the new number one on the album chart, but loses the top position on the track chart. 'Can't Feel My Face' was No.1 for three weeks and slips ro No.3 this week. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis debut at no.18: 'Wildest Dreams' by Taylor Swift debuts at No.22.
'Beauty Behind The Madness', the second album by Canadian singer, songwriter and producer Abel Tesfaye, better known as The Weeknd, makes a grand entrance on the Global Album Chart with sales of 449,000. The huge success is driven by several singles, 'Earned It' (was No.6 in April 2015), 'Can't Feel My Face' (3 weeks at No.1) and 'The Hills' (No.14 this week). 'Beauty Behind The Madness' had it biggest sales in the USA with 325,500 copies, followed by Canada with 35,000 copies, and United Kingdom with 34,800 copies. The Weeknd's former album 'Kiss Land' debuted at No.2 globally in the week 39, 2013 with 117,000 sales, a total of nearly 400,000 to date. So the new LP sold more copies in its initial week. The 2nd highest debut of the week comes from American singer Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, a.k.a. Halsey. Her first album 'Badlands' debuts with a healthy 141,000 copies sold, 97,300 of those in the USA, and another 10,500 copies sold in Canada, and 8,200 in United Kingdom. The 3rd highest debut this week comes from 29 year-old French rapper Gandhi Djuna, better known as Maître Gims. His second solo album 'Mon Coeur Avait Raison' has sold 92,000 copies in France, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands. His former set 'Subliminal' from 2013 has sold more than a million copies to date. Last week's No.1 album, 'Immortalized' by Disturbed, slips to No.9 after a 71% sales decline to 47,000 units.
The Weeknd's 'Can't Feel My Face' is No.1 on the Global Track Chart for the 3rd consecutive week. Next week, Justin Bieber's 'What Do You Mean?' and 'Halloween Night' by Japanese pop phenomenon AKB 48 are hot contenders for the top position but The Weeknd has just released his second studio album 'Beauty Behind The Madness' which will also deeply impact next week's sales.
Back to this week's track tally, where Felix Jaehn's remix of Omi's 'Cheerleader' remains at No.2 for a fifth consecutive week. 'Lean On' by Major Lazor feat. Mø & DJ Snake climbs back up to No.3. The highest debut comes from Japanese singer/songwriter Leo Ieiri. Her 'Kimi Ga Kureta Natsu' generated the biggest weekly download sales in Japan this year so far and landed at No.13 globally.
American heavy metal band Disturbed debuts at the top of the Global Album Chart. 'Immortalized' sold 159,000 copies in its first week, 93,100 of those in the USA alone. It's the band's third album to reach No.1. Their last LP 'Asylum' went to No.1 nearly five years ago in 2010 with 252,000 sales, and their debut Album 'Indestructible' topped the chart with sales of 301,000 in 2008.
'Burning Bridges', the 13th studio Album of the American pop/rock legendary Band Bon Jovi, is this week's second highest debut at No.3, having sold 105,000 copies. The biggest sales were in Germany with an estimated 25,000 units, 23,700 copies were sold in the US,14,500 in United Kingdom, and another 10,100 in Japan. Dr.Dre's new album 'Compton' is at No.2 this week with sales of 113,000. After the album was released on CD, it doubled its sales compared to the previous week. Luke Bryan's 'Kill The Lights' slips to no.4 with sales of 62,000. Jess Glynne's debut Album 'I Cry When I Laugh' is No.1 in the UK and No.5 on the global best-selling Albums chart with sales of 60,000.
