"AM" is the World's Best-selling Album this week!

"AM", the fifth studio Album of Arctic Monkeys, debuts at N°1 in this weeks Album charts after selling a total of 303.000 copies worldwide.

Arctic Monkeys are an english indie Rock Band formed in 2002 in High Green, Sheffield. The band consists of Alex Turner (Lead vocals, lead/rhythm guitar), Jamie Cook (rhythm/lead guitar), NIck O'Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals).

Alex Turner and Co just made Official UK Albums Chart History with "AM", released by Domino Records, becoming the band's fifth consecutive Number One and the first Indie-released Act to achieve such a feat. According to the latest sales data, "AM" sold over 157,300 copies this week in the UK alone. The tally makes "AM" the second fastest selling Album of 2013, just behind Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories" which sold 165,000 on its release back in May. The band's debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What Im not" became the fastest selling debut album in UK chart history, selling 363,735 copies in the first week and spawning 2 n°1 Singles.

In the US, "AM" sold 42.300 copies this first week, just 2,000 short of the band's best ever sales week in the States, back in 2007,  when "Favourite Worst Nightmare" was released and became their first Top 10 hit. Arctic Monkeys' fourth Album "Suck It And See" peaked at N°14 in the US upon its release in 2011, while their debut Album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" reached N°24 in 2006. That Album gave them their biggest-selling Single there when it reached N°6 in 2006. The Band's third Album "Humbug" reached N°15 in 2009.

Artic Monkeys are regarded as one of the most prominent Bands to be part of the post-punk revival in the UK, and have won 5 Brit Awards winning Best British Group twice and were nominated for 2 Grammy Awards.

Katy Perry, whose single "Roar" is N°1 worldwide, took to Twitter to announce the release of "Dark Horse" on iTunes, tweeting to her more than 42 million followers, "Here she is!!! DARK HORSE ft. @therealjuicyj PREORDER PRISM. ENJOY (and thanks for waiting)."

The song, a mid-tempo hip-hop-infused track featuring Memphis, Tennessee rapper Juicy J, is a departure from Katy's "Roar" and previous pop releases. A preview of the song is available on iTunes, where fans can download it instantly when preordering her new album.

The song's lyrical content references a callout to a lover who doesn't know what is about to come his way, with Katy singing, "So you wanna play with magic / Boy you should know what you're falling for / Baby do you dare to do this / 'Cause I'm coming at you like a dark horse."

Katy called upon her fans to select the song as one of several "Prism" preview tracks, rather than as an official follow up single to "Roar."

This year's Rock in Rio headliners included Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Muse, Florence and the Machine, Jessie J, David Guetta and The Offspring who performed to 85,000 people per day during the first weekend of the Rio de Janeiro music festival.

The hottest bows of the weekend came from the most experienced of the headliners. Alicia Keys proved why she is one of the best singers in the world and an impressive piano maestro as well. Among the songs she performed were “Girl on Fire,” “You Don’t Know My Name” and “Empire State of Mind.” The soul diva also included a surprise for the audience as she shared the stage with Brazilian singer Maria Gadú for her very first hit, “Fallin.”

Justin Timberlake, however, won the title for deafening cheers as he delivered the weekend's best performance on Sunday night, closing out the fest's first weekend with fireworks. The multi-talented star’s set was energetic and chock full of choreography, allowing the thousands of fans in the audience to dance along to Timberlake's non-stop hit parade, which included “Cry Me a River,” “Rock Your Body,” “Suit and Tie,” and “What Goes Around”?

Rock in Rio's second weekend is expected to rock as a bill of guitar-heavy bands take the stage. Among them: Metallica, Alice in Chains, Bon Jovi, Nickelback, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, John Mayer, Iron Maiden, Slayer and Avenged Sevenfold.

AVICII Releases New Album

The buzz around Avicii's debut album, "True", started back in March when he premiered "Wake Me Up" to the massive crowd at Ultra Music Festival, leaving his fans and the EDM community perplexed by the then brand-new country-tinged sound. And now, with "True" out, Avicii will admit he is no stranger to harsh criticism.

Despite this initial reaction, the single's official release was wildly successful and the attitude began to shift toward "True". "Wake Me Up" has reached no.1 all over the world, and tracks like "Lay Me Down" have already received critical acclaim. The genre departure that first alarmed fans and critics is now setting his LP apart from other collections of electronic music.

"This song, this album is nothing more than me sitting down with some time to spare and actually making exactly the type of music I want to make, with access to all of these people," he explained. Those people include collaborators such as Mike Einzinger, Aloe Blacc, Nile Rodgers, Adam Lambert and Imagine Dragons, just to name a few. Avicii Wanted To Work With Nile Rodgers 'Way Before' Daft Punk.

He was also sure to clarify that the genre crossovers featured in "True" are not a marketing scheme in any capacity, but very simply what he is into right now. "It's all about the music and the songs that I make, and it just happens to be this folky blend because that's what I was listening to a lot at the moment."

With his new release, he hopes to encourage other producers to return to the "emotion and melody" of dance music. "The genre has so much more to offer, and now is the first time I've seen that the scene is kind of lacking." As for the criticism — no negativity can bring him down. "Right from the start, I had such confidence in the music 'cause I knew exactly what I had... for me I was never really worried 'cause I knew it was going to be provocative and I knew I was going to get reactions. I just let it slide and figured once this gets released they'll see what my idea was with everything."
